Episode #2
My Aged Care (Australia)
In this episode we talk to Kat, from ACAT! Katrina is the manager of an Aged Care Service here in Australia. We discuss all the acronyms: ACAT, MAC, RAS, HSP, NDIS, DVA... you name it! We talk about Home Care Packages (HCPs), where the process starts (My Aged Care = MAC), who assesses older people (Aged Care Assessment Team = ACAT, or Regional Assessment Team = RAS), and why older people should get these approvals to government funded services to help keep them their homes for as long as possible (before the 'wheels fall off'). The Aged Care System in Australia is a maze and we hope this conversation will help our listeners better navigate this system! And of course, we end with a laugh.
